Сьогодні я пропоную вам озброїти свій лексикон трьома виразами, тільки що мною використаними.
Today I'm offering you to arm your vocabulary with three expressions used by me just now.
Розберемо кожне з них докладно:
Let's analyze each of them in detail:
"Закон підлості" - немає такого закону, звичайно, але фраза надзвичайно популярна в ситуаціях, коли неприємності трапляються в самі невідповідні моменти.
"Sod's law" - there is no such law, of course, but the phrase is extremely popular in situations where troubles happen at the most inopportune moments.
За законом підлості бажання зробити що-небудь хороше зазвичай збігається з гострим приступом ліні.
Under the sod's law, the desire to do something good usually coincides with a sharp attack of laziness.
"Коту під хвіст" означає, що щось безповоротно зіпсовано. Також можна почути "псу під хвіст". Достовірного джерела, мені, на жаль, знайти не вдалося, зате можу запропонувати вам синонимичное вираз: "піти прахом".
"Under the cat's tail" means that something is irretrievably spoiled. You can also hear "under the dog's tail". Unfortunately, I was not able to find a reliable source (of this expression), but I can offer you a synonymous: "go to ashes".
Всі наші зусилля пішли прахом через одного дурня!
All our efforts went to ashes because of one idiot!
Все пішло прахом, нічого вже не виправити!
Everything went to ashes, nothing can be fixed!
І останнє на сьогодні вираз - "до слова прийшлося". Його можна використовувати завжди, коли ви ненароком вставляєте в розмову начебто сторонні речі:
And the last expression for today - "до слова прийшлося". You can use it any time you insert into a conversation seemingly unrelated things:
Остання його ремарка не належала безпосередньо до справи, а просто до слова припала.
His last remark did not refer directly to the case, but simply happened to come up.
Я не це хотів сказати, це так просто, до слова прийшлося.
It's not what I wanted to say, it just happened to come up.
